Profese
Profese umožňují hráčům těžit přírodní suroviny a vylepšovat nebo vyrábět nové předměty. Každá postava, nezávisle na své rase, levelu či povolání, se může naučit maximálně dvě hlavní profese (počet vedlejších není omezen), což značně rozvíjí obchod mezi hráči. Hlavními profesemi jsou:
- Těžení Rud (Mining) - Sbírací profese umožňující těžbu přírodních rud a slévání kovů.
- Kovářství (Blacksmithing) - Vyráběcí profese, s jejíž pomocí lze z kovů vyrábět těžká brnění a zbraně.
- - Později je kovář může specializovat na výrobu zbraní nebo brnění. Na skillu 350 se kovaři zbraní specializují na kování kladiv, mečů a seker.
- Inženýrství (Engineering) - Zajišťuje výrobu výbušnin a z kovových součástek sestavuje různé stroje (mechanické mazlíčky, dálkové ovládání na roboty, apod.), jež však často dokáže používat pouze sám inženýr.
- Stahování Kůží (Skinning) - Sbírací profese, umožňuje získávání kůží z mrtvých zvířat.
- Kožedělnictví (Leatherworking) - Zpracovává kůže a vyrábí z nich střední brnění a "záplaty" na brnění.
- Krejčířství (Tailoring) - Umožňuje šití batohů a lehkého brnění (pro kouzelnická povolání). Muže také vypracovat kompletní cloth set (textilovou soupravu), který je skládán z více částí brnění např.(hand, robe, head, chest, shoulder).
- Bylinkářství (Herbalism) - Sbírací profese, díky níž lze snadno nacházet a sbírat byliny.
- Alchymie (Alchemy) - Zabývá se mícháním kouzelných lektvarů z bylin.
- Očarovávání (Enchanting) - Sbírací i vyráběcí profese, umožňuje rozložit předmět na magický prach, jehož kvalita je přímo úměrná kvalitě předmětu. Prach se následně dá použít k očarování (zlepšování vlastností) jiných předmětů.
- Klenotnictví (Jewelcrafting) - Tato profese byla uvedena v datadisku The Burning Crusade. Klenotník dokáže vyrábět prsteny, náhrdelníky a drahé kameny, jimiž je možné zlepšovat vlastnosti předmětů.
- Písařství(Inscription) - nová profese v datadisku Wrath of the Lich King, vyrábí svitky které posilují atributy a Glyphy, díky kterým můžete vylepšit vaše kouzla. Glyphy se dělí na MAJOR (vylepšují kouzlo, např. zvýšení dmg nebo prodlouží délku trvání koula) a MINOR (pouze "kosmetické" úpravy např. odebrání reagentu nebo změna efektu). POZOR, některé glyphy kouzlu přidají bonus ale zase něco odeberou, např. Glyph of Healing Touch - sníží dobu kouzlení o 1.5 sekundy, cenu many o 25 % a efekt o 50 %.
Vedlejší profese jsou:
- První Pomoc (First Aid) - Tuto profesi je možné využít k výrobě obvazů, které léčí zranění. To ji činí užitečnou především pro povolání bez léčitelských schopností.
- Rybaření (Fishing) - Za pomoci prutu a různých návnad je možné chytat ryby, které slouží jako jídlo. Občas se dá chytit také něco jiného než ryba, např. bedna plná alkoholu.
- Vaření (Cooking) - Dokáže přeměnit syrové zvířecí maso na poživatelné jídlo, včetně zvláštních specialit. Na vyšších úrovních umožňuje výrobu jídel zdokonalující nějakou vlastnost. Například 35 Hit rating na jednu hodinu po snězení
- Archeologie (Archeology) - Profese, která přibude do hry s datadiskem Cataclysm.
Profese je možné se kdykoli odnaučit nebo změnit, pokaždé však trvá dlouho, než si novou profesi dokonale osvojíte.
